Indiana

I have lived in Indiana my entire life. Well I can't  necessarily call it actually Indiana because I've been in The Region the entire time. For those of you that don't know, The Region is the little area of Indiana that is just across the border of Illinois, that is still technically a suburb of Chicago. We pay less taxes and we still get all the benefits of living by a big city. It's a nice place to live but we're still behind Illinois in a lot of things.      I am on a bus ride going to Louisville right now so we're taking a nice trip through the rest of Indiana and it is  boring to say the least. We're not even 20 minutes out of The Region and it's already all farmland. Indiana is a very boring state. This is going to be a long ride all the way through Indiana.      I would like to move out of  Indiana at some point in my life. I really like to travel and there are several places in the US I would love to move to. A co...

The Best Sport

The United Center pregame before a Blackhawks game    Hockey is the best sport in world. You don't have to fact-check, ask someone, or do anything else, just trust me. I've played a lot of sports in my life and hockey is the only one that requires strength, speed, endurance, and  precision to the utmost degree. If you're watching on tv, the puck is always in play and there always is something happening. I love sports like football and baseball, don't get me wrong, but there is just so much dead time where nothing is happening. I read somewhere that for a 60 minute football game, the ball is only in play for ten minutes, and for baseball I'd imagine it's around the same amount for a full game. In hockey, it's three 20 minute periods where the puck is moving and bodies are flying across the ice. Two of the best players in the world, Alex Ovechkin (left) and Sidney Crosby (right), going after a loose puck     Now I know what a lot of people might be ...

Icarus

Icarus poster picture         This week I had to watch a documentary for my English class. We were able to choose from a number of different ones, but the one I was most interested is one called Icarus, as it was highly recommended by my boss. I really enjoy documentaries, so I am happy to report this one did not disappoint and I would highly recommend watching this one to anyone. It starts out with a man named Bryan Fogel interested in seeing how much doping would help him in cycling. He starts searching through a number of doctors until he comes across one that works for the anti-doping agency in Russia named Grigory Rodchenkov. Very quickly we learn that Russia is not playing by the book and many people start coming forward claiming they have a systematic doping system in place for every major sporting event, especially the Olympics, fully equipped by the government, with Rodchenkov being the key piece in all of it. Fogel helps hi...
